SEPTEMBER 2006 |
The Brockville District Fish and Game club Web Site is now up to date!
www.bdfgc.com
Doug Mitton is now the Web Master. He would like everyone who has an e-mail address to send it to him. ( dmitton@sympatico.ca). If members have any suggestions, pass them on to Doug. He welcome any input. Doug plans to post photos of the clubs shoots (past, present, and future). If any one does not want their picture on the web, let Doug know..As in the newsletter, there will be a place for members to post, for sale items and other information they want to past along..
Remember: just like the club, this is your web site, so use it. You will find the latest newsletter, changes for up coming shoots, and general news about what is going on at the club, “Your Club”.So I hope that the membership will take advantage of Doug’s hard work, setting up the web site. We are in the age of computers and the information highway. The directors felt this was an ideal way to keep the member ship informed about their club.
IMPORTANT
Larry Foss, who has been our secretary for many years, is retiring at the end of this year. Over the years in the position he has done many other jobs as well. Treasurer, membership, archery, and range operator. We have volunteers that have taken over these jobs.
Our club needs a secretary. It is the most important job in the club. We hope that someone will step up and volunteer to take over the position. Larry is willing to train any one who is interested. Remember, this is our club so please think about volunteering. Give Larry a call at 613-342-1767 and he will explain the duties of the secretary.
INVOICE For 2007 is enclosed with this newsletter. Please return before December 31, 2006. Thank you.

REPORT FROM THE RANGE OPERATOR
There have been a lot of changes in the club in 2006.
At this point in time the range has had an inspection on June 15, 2005, which brought out a few deficiencies in the ranges physical make up. The 300 yard berm
was not high enough to meet O P P standards. The Board of Directors authorized the funds to bring it up to the 22 ft. [minimum] standard , during the summer
months. That being said, although the 300 yard did meet O P P standard, it HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED.
Therefore, until that has been done the 300 yard range MUST REMAIN CLOSED!!!
As of the date of this newsletter, with work being currently done on the range, it has come to our attention, that since the work on the 300 yard berm done last year, the berm
has eroded down to a level that WILL NOT MEET O P P STANDARD. Therefore, the 300 yard RANGE CLOSURE is still in effect.
Everyone that has visited the Club recently, will notice that Proposal # 1, taking the right side dog leg from the 25 yard pistol range and moving it down range to the 50 yard position, then move the required amount forward from the left side of
the 100 yard berm has been done. Further to that, the dog leg on the right side of the 100 yard berm has been moved back along the 100 yard berm line, extending the berm westward to pick up any shooting positions lost at the eastward end.
I have the unpleasant task to inform all club members, that the only range where handguns can be discharged is the 25 yard covered pistol range, that is to say, that when all
construction is complete, there will be a new 50 yard berm for shooting that distance.
Needless to say, any one caught breaking the above mentioned bans will have to dealt with, and the worst situation happening, that person, is responsible for having the club shut down because of their actions.
