Brockville District Fish and Game Club
April 2007 News Letter
From last newsletter, items that were missed:
Two long time members passed away:
Gary Box [Director].
Don Smith.
RANGE:
The range was inspected December 28, 2006 by the CPFO.
The range passed the inspection with a few deficiencies that are being looked after by the maintenance chairman. Upon these items being completed, our club will receive the certification from CPFO.
The range will look basically the same, but you will see small changes that have to be adhered to, on order to follow the guide lines set out by CPFO.
New signs will be posted indicating changes and additions to each of the five [5] designated ranges.
Sign
– In Sheets: As a result of new forms from CPFO one of the
new classifications for reason to CANCEL YOUR A T T’s is:
“Has
not attended the range in previous 6 months”.
The answer to this is, to sign in each time you use your RESTRICTED firearms, and to comply with the club three [3] times a year – spring, summer and fall Pistol Shoots, these would certainly meet the requirements of both CPFO and BDF&GC.
So as the saying goes “USE IT OR LOSE IT”.
HANDGUN SAFETY COURSE:
Next course is April 14, 2007 – Saturday, in the Grey Shooting House, Range # 1, 25 -Yard Pistol Range. Starts sharp at 8:00 am to 5:00 pm – 1 hour for lunch. Bring your own lunch or down the Red Road to fast food places. Dress for the weather conditions.
Cost for this course is $ 40.00 [this is to cover costs – if any money left over it goes to the club [instructors do not get paid].
Please DO NOT BRING YOUR OWN FIREARMS!
ADMINISTRATION:
Until this year the Board of Directors have met the First Wednesday of every month, at 7:00 pm.
At the January 2007 meeting the Board decided to meet in only the following months: January, March, June, September and then the Annual General Meeting in December. Time and place did not change.
As a result of the changes that are happening, you will note that the Board is down to TEN [10] Directors [our bylaws require 14].
The time required from anyone’s schedule, has been reduced dramatically, so please consider becoming a Director of our Club.
The position of club secretary has not been filed. The Board has appointed Larry G. Foss as Interim Secretary until a replacement has been found.
NEWSLETTER:
This
newsletter will be the last mass mailing, as it has been known in
the past. The Board has tried over and over and over to get members
to submit their email addresses, with only no more than 20
members complying. So the Board has decided to post the newsletter on
our Club website [www.bdfgc.com] for those of the club
members that have access to a computer. For those members that
do not have that access, it is up to you to contact the club in writing
[P O Box 1653, Brockville, ON. K6V 6E6] requesting a Postal mailing.
DUES AND NFA INSURANCE:
Just to advise you that the rates for dues and insurance have not changed from last year [2006].
A T T’s:
As a result of the renewal of the Clubs A T T’s for Restricted Firearms, the club has all the expiry dates of the members.
The club has in place, a database that compliments this expiry date.
A problem arises when the club sends in a request for renewal to CPFO, before the expiry date of the A T T’s. Only to find that some of those on the request for renewal have not RENEWED their PAL’s yet. CPFO will not renew, if you do not have a VALID Firearms License [POL/PAL]. The bottom line on this issue is, it is up to each individual to renew his or her firearms license long before the expiry of you’re A T T.
